NAME: Ienzo
CANON: Kingdom Hearts
CANON POINT: Post- Kingdom Hearts 3
AGE: 20
BACKGROUND: Wiki link
PERSONALITY:
- Intelligent and Inquisitive - Ienzo has a very strong sense of curiosity. As a child, he's shown wearing an oversized lab coat and walking directly into swarms of dangerous creatures with no apparent regard for his own safety, and while he appears to have grown out of a little of this recklessness as an adult, he still considers himself a man of science first and foremost. His becoming a Nobody and involvement with Organization XIII were kickstarted by his precocious involvement in Xehanort's experiments into the nature of the Heart, and he continued acting as a researcher throughout his adolescence and adult life. He's familiar with the workings of Kingdom Hearts's magic, studying it from a scientific standpoint as well as a practical one, and when asked begins to speculate at length on the nature of travel between worlds, and was able to decode and understand enough of his mentor's research to aid in building a functional replica of a human being.
- ""Polite"" - Ienzo speaks very formally under almost all circumstances. For the most part he speaks as if he's at a high-powered business meeting giving a presentation, being very serious and careful in his explanations of the concepts he's covering. The few exceptions to this are when he's with very, very close friends, who he's more willing to joke around or speak casually with, or when he's too flustered to keep it up, in which case he tries but fails and often winds up backpedaling and tripping over his words. All this said, though, this politeness doesn't necessarily equal being nice, and when frustrated he tends to become exaggeratedly formal, to the point where it wraps around to sarcastic disrespect. Essentially, he feels that he's free to express any sentiment he likes, no matter how rude or mean-spirited, as long as the words he uses are dressed up in technically minding his manners.
- Immature - It's also worth noting that the ten years Ienzo spent as a Nobody were essentially an decade-long break from emotional maturation for Ienzo. While he doesn't act like an eleven year old, he does have difficulty processing and grasping his emotions in more complex ways than "feeling good" or "feeling bad". Often this can manifest as being overwhelmed by intense emotions, becoming frustrated and shutting down when he can't articulate them or getting carried away in his enthusiasm without noticing he's being somehow inappropriate.
- Guilt-ridden - Ienzo feels responsible in large part for his role in the near-destruction of the worlds at the hands of the Heartless. Despite knowing now that unleashing them was Xehanort's plan all along, he spent a great deal of his life under the impression that the Heartless were only able to get out due to his pushing his mentor, Ansem the Wise, into continuing dangerous and unstable experiments - a view that Xehanort was only happy to reinforce, as it made Zexion, Ienzo's Nobody, that much more compliant and unwilling to question authority. With this on top of the many, many less than savory things he did as Zexion, Ienzo now has a great deal of trouble trusting his own instincts or making decisions that run against those around him, burdened with the "knowledge" that one mistake on his part could prove absolutely cataclysmic. Notably, as Zexion this guilt manifested in him lashing out at Riku, a boy in a similar situation of having been responsible for letting the Heartless into his homeworld by using his illusions to prey on all of his greatest fears about himself, but with his newly refound heart and alliance with the keyblade wielders Ienzo appears to have gotten considerably less vindictive about this kind of thing and less likely to externalize his self-loathing.
- Inferiority complex - Despite this well of self-doubt, Ienzo also has a bit of a chip on his shoulder when it comes to being taken seriously. The youngest of Ansem's apprentices by a large margin (he appared to be around the age of nine or so when they were all fully-fledged adults), Ienzo and Zexion spent a great deal of their time fighting against the perception of being childish or less capable than the others. This feeds into some of the above points, with his heavy insistence on proper manners at all times and his tendency to get snippy when interrupted or ignored by his elders. He's spent very little time around people his own age, and as such is used to having to compensate for being the baby of the family, so to speak, by being as well-spoken and respectable as he can. As a result, he's also not really certain how to cope with people younger than him or his peers.
- Heart Sense - Ienzo is capable of detecting the balance of Darkness and Light in a person's heart, which is nebulously defined in canon but mostly boils down to whether they're a more optimistic or pessimistic person overall, as well as whether they use dark magic or have other special circumstances surrounding them. He can also do this at incredible distance, pinpointing people at over an approximate half-mile away in canon. It's vague, and I'll have an opt-in/opt-out/permissions page up for the ability when it becomes relevant.
- Elemental Magic - The standard suite of Kingdom Hearts abilities, ranging from standard stuff like fire/water/ice/thunder to more esoteric things like gravity, or healing, or reflect. He can't do anything world-breaking with them, but as a fairly powerful wizard he can summon up large firestorms, conjure large shards of ice from nothing, and create small gravity wells that suck objects into them.
- Illusion Magic - This gets set aside because it's his specialty. As a boss fight, Zexion demonstrates the ability to use his illusions to flawlessly impersonate other people, create tangible weaponry, make copies of himself, and alter the environment to an extensive degree (i.e. trapping people "inside" of books or warping the world into an apocalyptic version of itself, albeit with the help of a magic memory castle backing him up). While it's not necessarily clear how much of the power he demonstrates in the games were his abilities as a Nobody and how much of it was power he'd retain as a human, I'm going to go with the idea that he still understands the theory of how to do all of that, but may not necessarily have the stamina or focus to keep it up for extended periods of time.
- Book Storage - Also he's got a small library of encyclopedias and dictionaries and other hefty tomes that he can access from just about anywhere via magic. Presumably these would each count as individial inventory items so he won't have all of them, but he will have the ability to pull whatever he does take with him out of thin air and put it back just as easily.
- A large, outdated white laptop
- A gummiphone
- The Book of Retribution
- Three more magical tomes (as in tomes about magic, not tomes with special magical effects).
